Foods to avoid when I have fibroids
There is no specific diet for fibroids, but making healthy dietary changes may help manage symptoms related to fibroids. Here are some foods to avoid that may worsen symptoms:
- Red meat: Eating too much red meat has been linked to an increased risk of fibroids. Try to limit your consumption of beef, pork, and other red meats and opt for lean protein sources like fish or beans. Red meat has high levels of saturated fats that can promote inflammation, and it contains high levels of estrogen that may exacerbate fibroid growth.
- Chicken in our setting has high levels of estrogen that can promote fibroid growth.
- Dairy products: products like cheese and butter contain high levels of saturated fats that may worsen inflammation, and they also contain high levels of estrogen that can promote fibroid growth.
- High-fat foods: Foods that are high in fats like fried foods, fast food, and processed snacks can increase inflammation, promote weight gain, and worsen symptoms associated with fibroids.
- Alcohol: Consuming alcohol increases inflammation which can worsen the symptoms of fibroids.
- Processed foods: Processed foods like sugary snacks, candy, processed meats, and refined carbohydrates may increase inflammation and worsen fibroid symptoms.
- Soy products: Soy contains isoflavones that may behave like estrogen in the body, which can promote fibroid growth.
It is recommended to consume a balanced diet that is rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, and low-fat dairy products to manage fibroid symptoms.
